Data Civility (DC), an African American (AA) biomedical company and its Historically Black College and University (HBCU) research collaborator, Coppin State University (CSU), propose developing an artificial intelligent (AI) software, DataCivility, distributed through a home based socially assistive robot (SAR) to (1) Inform AA women, in their 30s & 40s, about Alzheimer’s disease & Alzheimer’s disease-related dementias (AD/ADRD); (2) Identify early signs of AD/ADRD; (3) Recommend AA women about nutrition & physical fitness to help prevent AD/ADRD; (4) & Enroll them in AD/ADRD clinical trials managed by DC’s ethical clinical trial patient recruitment (CTPR) service.
Our Mission
DataCivility SaaS will improve the capability of uniquely identifying early indications of AD/ADRD onset through the use of a home-based SAR. The home based SAR will initiate continuous speech discourse with AA women and use speech to text algorithms (similar to Alexa) to understand spoken utterance, recognize speech patterns, and look for speech deviations/nuances that empirically provide a high probability for early AD/ADRD [r].

A microcontroller (3) will be integrated into the SAR to execute software that controls aforementioned sensors.

Shaping a New Experience
The proposed DataCivility SaaS will improve the capability of uniquely identifying early indications of AD/ADRD onset through the use of a home-based SAR. The SAR will use its embedded camera’s to understand the AA women’s non-verbal behaviors and recognize body movements, gestures, and facial patterns that show high probability for AD/ADRD among AA women. The DataCivility will apply culturally competent and ethical SaaS to interpret SAR collected speech utterances, non-verbal communication, and body movement patterns comparing against BigData representation of known AD/ADRD representation of this data specifically tailored for AA women.

The following NIH STTR Phase I tasks will be completed, in 12 months, to achieve the Specific Aims for evaluating the technical and commercial feasibility of the proposed DataCivility system as illustrated in Figure 2.
